A days birding around the Country Park. (7.50am - 3.30pm, then gullwatch from 4.50pm - 6.15pm)
"Highlights"
Chiffchaff - 1 seen by "kissing gate" leading to Stewartby Lake near the sewage works stream.
Stonechat - Male seen in field near wetland 3
Little Gull - sub-adult (2nd winter?) in roost. (A 1st winter Med Gull was also present, which I missed)
Buzzard - seen from visitors centre
Grey Wagtail - 2 seen near the sewage works
Pied Wagtail - 6+ near visitors centre
Pochard - one male on Pillinge, very few ducks present..
Wigeon 23 in field between Pillinge and access track
Redshank - 1 on Pillinge
Grey Partridge - 1 near visitors centre
Long-tailed Tit - several groups seen, including close views of two near sewage works
Comma butterfly - an early record, sunning itself near the Marston corner of Stewartby Lake
