A Meadow Brown - these butterflies are generally seen perching with their wings closed so I was please to get this shot...

A huge Privet Hawkmoth and a couple of photos of a Buff-Tip moth. Both were caught in Martin Palmer's moth trap that we ran overnight in my parents garden near Stewartby Lake.

The Hobby, Buzzard and Kestrel were all photographed over a 14 minute period (10.27am -10.41am) flying over wetland 3.

A couple of poorish photos of the same extremely pale Common Tern that was present for several days. This bird, whilst fairly easily identifable at close range, did an annoyingly good Arctic Tern impression when it was halfway or more across Stewartby Lake....

A normal-looking adult Common Tern. These terns are almost constantly patrolling for small fry along the edge of Stewartby Lake over the Summer months.

A montage of two very bad photos of a male Pintail on the sailing club bank of Stewartby Lake. The bird was initially seen from the gullwatch and (just) stayed put long enough to get a couple of photos as it flew back into Rookery. It is the only male Pintail I've photographed on the country park (so far...)

A male Smooth Newt in the Sensory Garden pond. The pond usually also contains a few of the rarer Great Crested Newt.
